An independent, evidence-based certification for classroom technology — drafted in the open, with first applications opening in 2026.
Every safety and efficacy claim about classroom technology today comes from the companies selling it. The RTE certification replaces that with an independent evaluation: products are assessed against published criteria, and the evidence behind every claim is verified rather than taken on faith.
Every product is evaluated across twelve domains, from privacy and data to learning efficacy.
About the domainsThe framework is calibrated to development, from early childhood (PreK–2) through high school (grades 9–12).
About the age bandsFrom Certified to Platinum, tiers make stronger practice visible.
About the tiersIn outline: a product is submitted for review, evaluated in each domain for the age bands it serves, and the evidence behind its claims is independently verified. The certification decision is then published with a verifiable record, so a family or a district can check it directly. The detailed process is being drafted by the working groups now.
Technology companies hold no more than 3 of 23 seats on the founding board, and no single funder may exceed 20 percent of annual revenue. Certification is earned against the published framework — never purchased, and never influenced by membership or dues.
